victorchandler make Paul Hart the 11/2 third favourite to get the chop first after he was announced yesterday as the permanent manager at Fratton Park for the coming season. The current favourite to leave his post first is Birmingham City’s Alex McLeish at 10/3 followed by Mark Hughes at 4/1.
“We feel that Alex McLeish is the most vulnerable. There are a lot of factors involved, and we don’t want to be too big a price on him.” said victorchandler spokesman Dave Jenkins. “The appointment of Paul Hart on a permanent basis surprised us a bit, and if Pompey start badly then he must come into the equation as well.”
Mark Hughes is also in the running to get his marching orders, mainly due to the expectations that surround Man City in the coming season. “The big question is whether the big names in the City line up will gel, and that burden will fall on the shoulders of Mark Hughes. He’ll be under pressure from the start.” added Jenkins.
