(23rd January 2009) New driver and main sponsor for the team Aki Ajo: Sandro Cortese takes 125s world champion Mike di Meglio`s place. Cortes` main sponsor interwetten proves their trust and steps into the contract extension. The 19 year old driver from Berkheim (D) is going to start the 125s world championship the coming season next to the Swiss Dominique Aegerter under the name AJO INTERWETTEN.
Both drivers and team AJO interwetten know each other well: Dominique Aegerter already challenged last season for the Aki Ajo, the former world champion driver. Sandro Cortese is a good friend of the Finn driver for a long time. The online bookie Interwetten was Cortese`s sponsor for many years - now, Interwetten joined the team. "In general, we are following three principles: a clear vision, an improvement of the situation of the sponsored driver in order to be successful, as well as a good partnership. We do see those three criteria fulfilled with Sandro Cortese”, explained Interwetten-CEO Mag. Thomas Daubek the contract extension. The AJO INTERWETTEN team is still going ahead with Derbi. The first tests are going to take place at the Spanish Jerez from 26th till 28th January.
I am delighted to join the Ajo-Interwetten team. I know Aki for several years now and he always supported me. Now I do have the chance to work together. The past years he proved how strong his team is and I am looking forward to work with him. That my main sponsor Interwetten puts so much trust in me makes me very proud. I feel comfortable being in this team and I can’t wait to start the new season.
Daniel M. Epp – Manager Sandro Cortese
The decision to place Sandro in the world champion team 2008 was a good one. I do trust Aki Ajo and I know that Sandro will be safely in the best of hands. Sandro and I are happy that Interwetten took the plunge to the Ajo team with us and I am convinced that Sandro would do everything imaginable to fulfil the trust Interwetten put into him.
Dominique Aegerter – 125 cc
To work with the interwetten team gives me great opportunity for the coming season. I do know Sandro for several years now and I am happy about the chance to work together with him. I am looking forward to achieve great results with him. Our drivers and the entire Ajo-Interwetten team are highly motivated.
